the start of the 90's... Chance's "wild years"

The early 90’s… to be exact 92-95, were probably the most musically active years; I was in a band, I was seeing bands in Sacramento, sometimes, 2-3 times a week, my friends were in bands, I was booking bands at a local bar… these years were the most fun, the silliest, and scariest, and let’s be honest… and coming out of 90/91…. set 92-95 up to be the best years of my life.

Musical tastes were still all over… but 4 bands best summarize this era for me… Christian Death (WITH ROZZ, damnit… NOT VALOR), Sick of it All, House of Pain… and Rollins Band…

And lastly… Rollins band and Henry Rollins… Hank changed my whole outlook… It was through his example, I started really writing “poetry” as a means to work through emotional issues, the songs of my then band, 11/17, would almost exclusively be written to work through heartbreak and my inability to deal with love and it’s aftermath…

It all started when I was in Las Vegas living with a few of the band members (91’ Vegas- NOT a very good time… but it did end with a trip to Disneyland, so I learned of silver linings)…
Laying on the couch, after an almost 45 second bit of radio silence on the college radio station… then breaking the silence came the words, “I know you…”
All things changed…

From Turned On, THIS song was on heavy repeat… And in 91’ I think single handedly prevented me from committing suicide… (too heavy?)
